Inspiration

Slim belts had been the mainstream fashion since 1940's. Prior to World War II, pants with high waistlines were commonly worn, and wide belts appeared bulky when paired with them. Taking inspiration from a 1939 department store advertisement, we aimed to recreate the most classic belt style and a more elegant visual proportion.

Brass Slide Buckle

This belt is holeless. Slide belt was very popular in 1940's, people can adjust accurately and freely according to their own size, regardless of any changes in body shape. The slide buckles we used are all solid brass(red/white/yellow), which is the most durable and premium material, unlike the metal coating colour commonly seen in fashion products nowadays. The buckle is engraved with Art Deco elements, telling the story of its design origin from the 1930s.

British Bridle

In addition to its renowned durability, British Bridle Leather is known for its distinctive white bloom effect on the leather surface. This white powder comes from a traditional formula of beeswax and oils that has been used for British Bridle Leather over centuries. It is applied by the hands of artisans, to create waterproof effect against snow and rain. Such strong protection is very important for bridle under the constantly rainy and snowy conditions in England.

Beside the wax effect, what makes bridle leather so special is the vegetable tanning process. Only 2 remaining tanneries on earth are still using this kind of ancient underground tanning trenches that were built centuries ago. They run very limited production every year since it takes half-a-year long tanning process and great manpower to carry rawhides between trenches that contain different tannin concentrations. This is how the most luxurious, toughest and enduring leather is created.
